First, a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s related to the CFCL; especially our wives, who have put up with plenty over the years … from taking charge of the kids for that special day every March or April, to their patience as we sit hitting Refresh on the Live Scoring from the stat service for hours on end, to putting up with the mood swings that only a Rotisserie Widow can experience. A very sincere thanks for indulging our fantasy.
Mother’s Day has typically been something of a milestone in the CFCL, marking the time of year when teams really take stock of their performance so far and their chances for the rest of the year, and in some cases (as we saw in the “This Week In CFCL History” for this week) decide to begin rebuilding.
From the years 2004 - 2009, Mother’s Day held an additional significance – the posting of the traditional Mother’s Day quote and photo in the weekly Roster Change report. Rich, in particular, was always especially appreciative when Mother’s Day rolled around.
Since this blog is dedicated to celebrating CFCL traditions of all types, and without further ado, I give you Mother’s Day CFCL-style:
“My mother was always there for me- making the wins a little sweeter and the losses a little easier to take.” – Cal Ripkin
