This Week in CFCL History

Here’s a look at this week in CFCL history, covering the dates July 7 to July 13.

July 7, 1987	BALD EAGLES trade Pat Pacillo and a waiver choice to DEM REBELS for Rich Gossage. The Eagles would send Gossage to the Crocketts a few weeks later as part of a package to obtain Tim Raines and Nolan Ryan, who both had huge second halves for the Eagles.
July 7, 1987	COPPERFIELDS trade John Smiley and Casey Candaele to RUFFINS for Doyle Alexander, Mike Easler, and a waiver choice.
July 7, 1998	SIX PACKS trade Raul Mondesi, Mark Lansing, Carlos Hernandez, Hideo Nomo, and their 5th round Rotation Draft pick in 1999 to RUFFINS for Rueben Rivera, Bret Boone, JD Drew, and their 1st round Rotation Draft pick in 1999.
July 7, 2003	RUFFINS trade Ken Griffey Jr, Matt Clement, Junior Spivey, and Bobbie Brownlie to LAMBCHOPS for Adam Dunn and their 3rd, 7th, and 10th round Rotation Draft picks in 2004. Eventual 2003 Champions, the Lambchops, continue to acquire pieces for their pennant run. Griffey went on a tear immediately after the deal, hitting home runs in five consecutive games (though he was injured and lost for the season shortly after that). Clement posted 10 Quality Starts. And yet, it may have been the inclusion of Brownlie that had the most lasting impression, as it set the stage for the trade that shook the CFCL like no other. Stay tuned…
July 7, 2004	SPLINTERS trade Larry Walker to RUFFINS for Scott Hairston.
July 8, 1997	FLATFEET trade Rod Beck, Rick Wilkins, and their 4th round Rotation Draft pick in 1998 to DEM REBELS for Javier Lopez and Sean Bergman.
July 8, 1997	DEM REBELS trade Butch Huskey, Al Martin, Brooks Kieschnick, and their 4th round Rotation Draft pick to SIX PACKS for Robb Nen, Kirk Rueter, Bernard Gilkey, and Ryne Sandberg.
July 8, 1997	DEM REBELS trade Ron Gant, Jeff Brantley, and Jason Isringhausen to BIG DOGS for Barry Bonds and Mark Grace. Big day for the Rebels as they complete three trades, dealing away 8 players and acquire 9.
July 9, 1991	SWORDFISH trade Mark Carreon and Vince Coleman to LAMBCHOPS for Billy Hatcher, Henry Rodriguez, and their 2nd round Minor League Draft pick in 1992.
July 11, 1989	SIX PACKS trade Luis Salazar and their 1st round Minor League draft Draft pick in 1990 to PICKS for Vance Law.
July 11, 1989	SIX PACKS trade Todd Benzinger, Sid Fernandez, and Rob Dibble to LAMBCHOPS for Pedro Guerrero, Scott Terry, and Tim Burke.
July 11, 1989	DEM REBELS trade Dave Martinez, Jody Davis, Dennis Cook, Scott Garrelts, and their 1st round Minor League Draft pick in 1990 to PICKS for Kevin McReynolds, Mike Scioscia, Mark Davis, and their 1st round Minor League Draft pick in 1990. The Picks made this deal with the condition that the Rebels trade Mark Davis back to them after the season ended. The Rebels made the Picks sweat most of the winter before finally agreeing on a return deal.
July 11, 2001	SIX PACKS trade Sean Casey, Adam Eaton, Peter Bergeron, and their 7th and 13th round Rotation Draft picks in 2002 to DEM REBELS for Robb Nen, Jeff Bagwell, and Mike Remlinger.
July 11, 2011	RUFFINS trade Anthony Rizzo, Wilton Ramos, and their 8th round Rotation Draft pick in 2012 to GRAGING BULLS for Wandy Rodriguez, Francisco Rodriguez, and Mike Leake.
July 12, 1988	BALD EAGLES trade Len Dykstra, Mitch Webster, and Tracy Jones to ACES TO WIN for Jim Lindeman, Albert Hall, and Rafael Palmiero.
July 12, 2001	GO-GO trade Brian Jordan, Dave Veres, Marlon Anderson, Juan Castro, and their 8th round Rotation Draft pick in 2002 to DA PAUL MEISTERS for Steve Finely, Jose Mesa, Jim Brower, and Mike Thurman.
July 12, 2010	RED HOTS trade Yadier Molina, James Loney, and Scott Elbert to TWIN KILLERS for Ryan Braun, Henry Blanco, and Andres Torres.
